Scania's 4777 to 4781 - It's time for these to go !

as a regular 907 user I generally find myself on the Scania Omnicitys (4777-4781), they are not the best buses to travel on, they feel underpowered and I know most of the drivers don't like them. Today I was on the 16:25 from City (actually came at 1645, the 16:25 very rarely runs to time, as does the 16:40), when I got off at The Crossways the driver said the driver he took over from said "It just doesn't move !". If this is normal for these Scania's then isn't it time they were withdrawn.

No. The Scanias are some of the most powerful deckers ever bought. They have their faults, the reason a lot of drivers don't like them is the slow doors, and because of the power they are quite heavy on fuel, but plenty of life left in them yet

Thanks Tony - can these be transferred then to.....Dundee maybe, but please remove these from Perry Barr ?

They're not going to be transferred just because you don't like them.

Some of them are not too bad I think. The controls I find you have to reach forward to use, especially the handbrake. I get a bad back after driving them. As Tony said, they have lots of power and are quite brisk. They are a lot smoother than the Volvos and Enviro400s, over rough roads and potholes. I do find the cabs quite claustrophobic because of the low ceilings

4777 is well known for being the worst with the slow doors and interlock release
4778 I had Monday afternoon, was very slow pulling away (slower than the rest)

The best of the the 5 are 4779 and 4780

I hate 4777. Very slow.
Have ridden all apart from 4781.
4779 is my favourite, it constantly has its Cooling Fans going, which are really loud like 4504's!
4778 is slow pulling away but once it gets speed it flys down roads.
4780 is another good one. The doors are a tad faster than 4777's.

@Steve3229vp Fgs, the 907 has the spare Platniums on every day, only 1 or 2 Omnicitys are on the 907 these days.

They are way better than the Trident Enviros.

4697 was probably the best out of all. It always would get battered down Walsall Road.

The original '07' plates were my favourites. 4799 is a slug. The Omnicitys (apart from 4777) feel faster than 4799-4815 and 4817-4829. I do like 4800/11/14 and a few others.

How I would beg for the mk1 e400 to come back to PN. Had so much power and even better with a late driver on the 9.

The last couple of times I've been on the mk1 e400 on the 16 the drivers seem reluctant to put the foot to the pedal, which I understand they have a timetable so no need to go fast.

The new e400mmc at PN are slowly growing on me, but still not comparable to these beasts that used to get hammered up and down the Hagley road

4814 was the best at PN. Especially when it would get floored down Hagley Road. It also has a nice whine.

how many drivers put these problems down on the vcr I bet not every driver does

@Steve3229vp NX are going to transfer buses just because you don't like them. What`s wrong with Platniums?
