The Real 4778

Well, 4023 has now bitten the dust, and by my reckoning there's only 33 still operating in the West Midlands.

Any enthusiasm for these decent (on the whole) machines, or doesn't the new plastic generate any sentiment?

I confess, I was more taken by the grunt of the Mercs, although when 4114 and her ilk were new in Sutton they were very welcome and brought some much needed modernity to the 100% Metrobus landscape.
Don't you start.

Give me an old bus over a new bus anyday. I can remember them on the 9, and the 103 along with the spectras. Mad how time flies by.

Can't stand em myself. It's the seats that put me off...

Thanks @Winston for that link - amazing to see relatively young buses being chucked out of London - no doubt as a result of the NB4L fleet, including 2009 E400s!

But why so coy - I would have thought just putting a phone number with no indication they were direct sales might be off-putting?

Notice that @Tony posted on Facebook that the Presidents have been set a date for withdrawl?

Do I take it this will probably be at the end of March (end of the financial year)?
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

More like end of December, it's been stated throughout the year that all presidents will be gone by the end of 2016

Those Enviros you referred to have already been sold. Sullivans have taken six with Big Bus Sightseeing having taken the rest.
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

All presidents except 4092 were withdrawn last night. 4092 currently on the 1 will be withdrawn in the next couple of hours

Does this include the ones in Scotland, Tony?
Bustimes.org - armchair bus chasing at its best

Doubt it, I don't believe Dundee has recevied enough replacements to allow that to happen. I also understand 4076 at least is to see service well in to 2017.

Would seem a massive waste repainting it if it was to be withdrawn so soon
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....
