BU07 LGO

I always return thanks, but sometimes if you say hello or engage in conversation you get people sit at the front ( on mmc's) who try to talk to you whilst your driving which is awkward when you have to ignore them! So now I don't engage but always say thanks if they do!

Personally I don't see the point of it all. Ultimately, the person wants to get from A to B. I just drive the damn bus, instead of wasting time socialising. I get what BU07 is saying about engaging with someone and they just stand there for the whole journey distracting you, and you don't want to be rude and tell them to sit down lol.

That's simple, you greet them when they get on/off and tell them to find a seat if they stand too close to the cab. Actually speaking to the passenger makes the day better for you and for them and doesn't really take a lot of effort and it is often appreciated.

There's a few people on the 5 who I engage with and talk to. Some on the 31 too. But the 11 and 37, nah. The 11 especially. I've had people regularly arguing/swearing at me on them routes though. As I'm pretty much always on the 11, I just find the people not worth engaging with. Just drive the pass, and keep conversation to a minimum. I'm not rude however.

Thought of this topic after an experience I had earlier, so I thought I'd post in it. I was on 6730 earlier on the X51 from Walsall to Birmingham and I've got to say, I've never experienced such a nice driver (not including drivers I know) for a long time at National Express! Greeted the passengers as they boarded and also wishing them a pleasant journey as they got off! I don't even think he's a Platinum driver as I have never seen him on the Platinum's before (I suspect it was overtime unless he's recently transferred onto the Walsall Express Rota).

No he isn't. I've seen him on other services before such as the 10/A.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

I find that jobs such as these (Dealing with customers on an interactive basis) are usually gloom, the typical day goes ok providing no mishaps are going and the customers are just getting on with themselves. I suppose keeping a smile helps and makes the day somewhat better.
