I say thank you if the ride has been OK, which it usually is, but you have to speak fairly near to the holes in the plastic on the vandal screen for the driver to understand what you're saying.

Lol. On a serious note though @karl724223 do you normally say thank you to passengers? If it was me if they say thank you or hello I'd say it back just plain manors but if they don't show it why should I.
oh yes look her in the eye (ps I'm wearing mirror sunglasses) give her a nice smile and say a jolly thank you  bus pass what buss pass

Bryan, you are truly king of the double entendre.

I remember Tony was smiling and greeting customers when he was driving a Merc on the Farewell day

I've had some very good drivers from YW - make sure you put in a compliment using the NX feedback page - they should pass it on to the driver. I've done that in the past.

I was nominated for Customer Service driver of the year if that counts

It does indeed count, you can't be nominated for that award without providing excellent customer service.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

There is a driver at PN who greets each passenger with a good morning/ evening  and wishes them good day/night upon leaving the vehicle. Usually on the 9. Also very thorough in scrutinising all passes and any dodgy daysavers that are shown.

Which garage do you think has the best friendliest drivers ?

@karl724223 That is a difficult one as most garages have there excellent drivers who go out of there way to help you, but you have to balance it with the fact that most garages also have the odd driver that really couldn't care a damn! That is a fact of life sadly. thankfully the very good ones far out weigh the poor ones thank goodness.

I have to say Pensnett because out of the many jouneys I have had, I have only ever had one really bad experience!

Day to day, I really only ever encounter AG drivers - don't usually get any word out of the 37 drivers, then most of them see me most days so might get a friendly nod from time to time! Have noticed more recently that other drivers on the 1 and 31 are usually a bit 'chirpier', greeting and bidding farewell to passengers. The only other garage drivers I encounter from time to time are those from PN on the 120, and the levels of 'friendliness' are comparable I would say.

At the end of the day, I don't want the bus driver to be my best mate, or greet all passengers with a sing-song as they board or disembark. However, I'm one of a dying breed who will at least acknowledge the driver with a 'thank you' as I get off, and the reason is that's what everybody did when I first started catching buses as a child/teenager (and I'm 40 now!), but the number of passengers who just waltz off the bus makes me realise how selfish and ill-mannered society is in general today.  :(
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Impressive - well done!

I've always found YW to be pretty good. WN always been good as well when I go up there. However as has been said there's excellent drivers at each garage. The majority of drivers at NX I've come across are courteous; rarely had any issues. Friendliness can vary though sometimes from route to route, probably because of the clientele they have to deal with at times.

Walsall had a driver back in the Pte days, his regular route being the 366, where he used to 'entertain' the punters on route.

Think he got a newspaper report at one point.

There was a chap like that who drove the 21/29 at Harborne and then Quinton garages many years back. There was a feature on him on the local Midlands Today BBC news. I believe his name was Harold Steward.

I had a very polite driver on the 59 the other day, young lad short black hair... Said thanks to him and he replied 'your welcome, enjoy the rest of your day' if only all drivers were like that...
