All trains seem screwed
"Overhead wire problems between Birmingham International and Woverhampton is causing delays of up to 20 minutes to trains between these two stations. This is expected to continue until 19:00.

Alternative travel options

London Midland customers may use National Express West Midlands on all reasonable routes"

350233 & 350264 were the two trains that clipped each other at the derailment this morning just outside Watford

And once again LM lack of traincrew knowledge via Bescot making it worse than it needs to be - yet Virgin go that way at the drop of a hat.

It's not just about train crew knowledge. It's about the availability of paths that can be used to divert, and then the impact on other services if that is to happen.

It isn't about paths - they often go ECS which can only be because the guard isn't right. If paths over the grand junction were a problem then VT would be sitting at Rugby!

Stuharris 6360

It's more often, route knowledge, if there was a problem between Smethwich GB amd Snow Hill, the service would be scuppered because Snow Hill line drivers don't know the line between Smethwich & New Street.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

You seem to have misunderstood me - paths is an issue, as a line only has a certain amount of capacity - obviously if every service is diverted then there's not going to be enough paths to cope with it. That's why usually when a diversion is required, the bigger trains are diverted and the shorter ones are cut short.

With route knowledge...VT sign Bescot, ATW don't, LM Birmingham do, LM Crewe (who work most the Liverpool - Birmingham) don't.

I should hope ATW do sign Bescot as the 1921 Holyhead to New Street is booked that way...

Over the years ATW have gone to a great deal of trouble to maintain route knowledge via Bescot. LM Crewe guards not signing via Bescot is nothing short of ludicrous.

There shouldn't be any problem diverting via Bescot - if the WCML is blocked they don't thin the service and freights are diverted too

Okay, they do sign via Bescot - wasn't aware of that, thanks :)
