What do you think will happen in the bus world in 2015?

I think:

At least 2 buses will have fires.

At least one major stabbing on a bus.

Hansons will launch another route.

Diamond will lose more tenders to Igo.

There will be a company purchased which nobody expected.

First will buy new deckers for the 144.

The 9 and 900 will go 24hrs

All opinions and onions mentioned on here are mine and not those of any employer, current, past, present or future, or presented as fact, unless I prove it otherwise.

Ronnoc

I think that the Presidents will start going and the Spectras including all the old single deckers, I think all of them will be gone before 2016 will come. I think an Enviro 400 might be involved in withdrawal and scrapping this year and Enviro 400 MMCs will be out and running. I think Birmingham will be really nice with these new revolutionary MMCs rather then these cheap Enviros, I think this year in the late months we will say farewell to the nice Mercs, Crusaders, B10Ls and Plaxton Presidents and I think no ALX400s will start to be withdrawn until late next year.

CL

- NX will get about a third of their MMC fleet by July.
- All Spectras will be gone by August, except 4001/4002 - kept in preservation.

- Regarding the fires, I'd say more than 2. 4/5, at least. *cough* tridents from Pensnett *cough*
  - 4 from engine fault, i'd say.
  - 1 from arson

- A handful of assault/abuse occasions - physical and/or sexual. - which will make it into the news.

- NXWM/NXC to accept Swiftcard, more people using Swift or e-Daysavers
- Uprise of SwiftCards, if/when NX ever accepts it.

 I might finally get a sighting of coach XFJ843X  :D  ;)

I think the general UK bus scene this year will become abit more plastic, with the usual mix of unfortunate/deliberate incidents, some company closures/buyouts so business as usual I suppose

Fires, stabbings, sexual assaults, premature withdrawal of an E400.
What an optimistic bunch you all are!

Don't forget to add possible garage closures to that list..............

I'd have thought the opposite is more likely, as a number of garages are already at capacity and NX want to grow all group businesses organically.

Sprint would also need a home if NX were to win the contract to operate it.

The B6s and B10Ls will be withdrawn sometime in this year. :( :'(

Won't Mercs go before b10 & b6 ?

Liverpool Street

Obliteration of old school products.

Five muggings and/or assaults.

New livery.

Bristol Road/Pershit Road upgraded to used E400's.

New, tighter timetables across the board to increase driver mileage, less drop back/layover etc. (Still enjoy your job, John? Hahaha)

Obliteration of night time X64 (I hope)

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Is someone trying to say that PE get more than there fair share of bus fires!
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Fare increase will be announced in December, and social media will go crazy with people claiming it is cheaper to get a taxi, NX are ripping off customers (whilst failing to slam other operators for increasing their prices), and all the buses are old and smelly and full of dirty tramps.

Swift pay-as-you-go will be launched on NX buses, with cheaper fares to attract people to switch to smartcards, yet one person on my Facebook page will continue to insist that NX will be mass-profiteering as a result.

One other person will continue to insist that NX should renumber all their bus routes back to how they were, and extend all their routes to places that no-one else really wants to get a bus to.

There'll be a major review of services in Dudley, and despite extensive consultations, some people will moan about the changes, while others will claim that the new route numberings will be confusing because "what if people mix up the 2 service between Dudley and Merry Hill and the 2 service between Birmingham and Maypole".

iGO will win more tendered contracts.

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

If they do, just point them towards this photo of a number 4 in West Bromwich Bus Station!
