Caught the 1401 from Town Hall today - the only passenger and we never stopped until Halesowen, arriving 5 minutes early. We caught a 22 up at War Lane and a 002 by Halesowen Cricket Club.

I was able to catch the 1444 out of Halesowen (10 minutes late). Several people got on / off and there were about 8 through passengers. We picked a few up Bartley Green / Jiggins Lane / Harborne arriving at the Town hall with 12 people on board 3 minutes late - all apart from me and an elderly couple baffled that the Town Hall was the end of route.

Speaking to a couple of drivers they are convinced the terminus needs to be Colmore Row. The boss needs convincing to male any change.

Myself, i can't see why the service can't terminate in Colmore Row, then run empty to The Town Hall, park up there until nearly departure time & then go back round to Colmore Circus to take up service.

As the service is only every 30 minutes, there will be no problem about which buses are used?

Correct, they don't need to worry about whether the vehicles on the 22 meet the City Centre requirements.

They still need to meet basic criteria if serving colmore row no matter what the frequency is

Correct, the Spectras cannot be used if it terminates in Colmore Row, All vehicles on services into the SQP area must be low floor, whatever the frequency.

D10

Yeah, sorry I keep forgetting their Spectras are not low floor. Just so used to NXWM Spectras being low-floor, I forget these buses were new to Eastbourne in step entrance days!

Stuharris 6360

well i am sure that TGB has enough vehicles to ensure that the Spectra's don't operate on the 22.

When you think about the the fact that 101-107 are seatbelted and intended for school work, 121 also seems to be one they won't use on a public route, the fact that buses break down, and they need to make sure they have enough buses for the 50, I suppose the flexibility is good to have.

nifty50

Perhaps fuel consumption is much better on the spectras. The 22 route involves alot of hilly terrain Merry Hill end and aren't ideal for the tridents

That's true, when i was on 114 the other day and we turned right from Lyde Green to go to Colley Gate, it was such a struggle to climb the hill, i was sitting on the top deck and looked behind us, we had started a convoy!!!

Sorry, its my eyesight, thought it said May!!  ;)

Wonder what the route change is?

Stu

It's probably referring to the change that came into effect when the route started, to serve Howley Grange Road.

Just a tidying up exercise I guess, as the route hasn't changed since it started.

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Finally managed to catch The Green Bus on the 50; impressed; driver was friendly and chatting with the passengers and the Trident one of the more unusual I've ridden. Had 118 and at first I thought why did it have the TWM seat colours, and the second door, then realised it was ex Travel London!
