Do you know when I was young I never heard anyone say Midland Red buses looked 'too like' London just because they were red, or East Kent, or Devon General, or Trent or..............

No doubt I would guess my last contribution to this website, but the Birmingham area has been used to blue coloured buses over many years, with many operators.

I guess NX has made a rod for its own back with the current awful red and white livery. To change to a completely different colour scheme would have left no continuity between old and new liveries.

I actually like the design of the new livery a lot. Just a shame that it couldn't have been the same design but with navy upper and lower, and mid blue middle section, instead of the maroon and red, and a cream / gold stripe - a sort of modern twist on the old PTE colour scheme.

I rather like the current NX bus livery - however the new one looks quite nice - just a little concerned the second red doesn't contrast well enough - having seen Stagecoach's Cambridge P and R liveries, the red and maroon is superb.

But they need to keep one eye on retaining a link with the corporate image of National Express which is a good one.

I am still upholding my opinion about, what I think, is a 'step-forward' livery for NX. However, many of you are persistent with some blue in the new livery... I mean, times have changed, the company is progressing - but it got me thinking. IF NX kept the 'template' of their new livery, but used the colours like that on the MCW Metrobuses (due to a similar layout) - what would it look like?

Some of you may know, I like to 'develop' paperbuses into either my own livery ideas, or base it on simple liveries...

Here's what I came up with:

Clayderman - Excellent work!!! And I am glad you've done the TWM inspired one ~ I think it looks better then the proposed new livery! I love it!! Maybe a blue and cream/black and cream BCT inspired one next? It should be easy to change the colours to the correct vintage.

Clayderman, what a spectacular job you did! You should be proud of yourself. I really like the TWM inspired livery, that looks wonderful. I miss the TWM livery. Shame that won't be applied on the new buses.

I will reserve my opinion of the new livery until I see it with my eyes when it comes out in 2015. Not going to criticise it from a photograph.

And LS, as for your request, it's coming very soon.  ;D Keep your eyes peeled.  :P - All I need to do is repaint the template I have, with the BCT colours, unless you want me to start from scratch - see how the BCT colours would sit on the E400MMC

I think any two contrasting colours in the new NX livery swoop looks excellent! Why they had to chose red and red I'd never know. Excellent work as always, but I think the roof should maybe be a darker cream? And please post the platinum livery too :)

Great job clayderman livery's of yest er year with a few clever  tweaks still look great. I think it wouldn't hurt to repaint some buses into heritage colour schemes, metrobus mk3 3088 at hockey garage all ways looked the business.
