God knows how drivers are coping on the new electrics. First of all the next stop announcements are constant, you've got what is already said inside repeated outside, so is just even more insufferable.

When at a low speed that spaceship sound comes on (the one that is supposed to act as road safety awareness for visually impaired people) and it is one of the worst, uncanny things I've ever heard. Is there not a setting where this can be changed to something more conventional like a running engine.

Jack

That's if the announcements work, half the time on a lot of them at CV and PB the turn off after a couple trips, or haven't even been bothered to be programmed. The other monitor seem to either work half the time too, the PB ones just seem as if they've been rushed and not had anything put in properly.

Also why have the announcements not been sorted considering this issue has been ongoing since the Cov ones started service?

6116, those 15 reg Enviro 400 MMCs are cracking buses, they seem to rattle a lot less than their platinum equivalents (of a voith persuasion anyway)

I was expecting to hear every bump and pothole, as per my usual experience, but they accelerate really smoothly and handle bumps better than I've experienced on any other ADL product.

Hard to believe they're 9 years old, NX got these spot on, users of the 11 are very lucky to have these

From a driving point of view the one WB had on loan from pennsnet 6104 i think, it was awful to drive it had the dreadful zf ecomatic  box and the brake pedal was stiff no feel at all. Some might know i'm not a fan of MMc's

Are the ZF examples worse to drive than the Voith equivalents, in your opinion?

i've driven only one ZF equipped Enviro 400mmc, the rest are 4900s with zf's majority not great experience, Voith equipped Enviro 400mmc do drive and brake better

The uprated ZF ones are mega quick, unfortunately 6104 is not one of them.

These "non smart hybrid" Platinum Enviro400s are quickly becoming my new favourite buses, they sound a lot more tuneful and less dull than their smart hybrid counterparts, 6815 and 6818 in particular are ones that stand out to me, they're very reminiscent of those Voith ALX 400/Trident 2s that were meant for Stagecoach

2166 - First time I've ever ridden on an Eclipse, and I can honestly see why some much prefer them to the E200MMCs and Omnilinks. Very spacious, not a rattling racket, nice interior. Just a very pleasant experience, probably helped by the refresh they've had after being transferred over from Coventry a while ago now. It is just one bus, but first impressions do count and it's definitely a very good impression at that!

4477

The withdrawal of the non-CLZ complaint Geminis (4679 excepted) means that the allocation of routes (that don't enter the city centre) like the 48 is a mixed bag.

The other evening I was treated to 4477, I say this all of time, but I genuinely can't believe these Geminis are 21 years old, and they're still among the best in the fleet, in my opinion.

In terms of build quality, this example has aged like fine wine, minimal rattles - most of which was coming from the metal of the emergency exit. The driver seemed like they were having a lot of fun with the kickdown which, in a typical ZF fashion, threw the passengers around a bit, but made for an interesting and efficient journey

These 03 Geminis sound amazing as well, very hard to believe that these are 21 years old.

I can vouch for the drive on them. Definitely quality vehicles.

4500 is a perfect example of a Gemini that sounds absolutely phenomenal and it's a 21 year old bus. Absolutely amazing Zf the last time I went on it on the 72.

Rode 3301 my first time on a StreetDeck on the 37,
Sat upstairs, Legroom was decent, Lighting was good, wasn't sure what to expect of these StreetDecks, Engine was smooth apart from maybe a bit of a struggle maybe it was a car in front as we went up the Walsall Road Pleck Railway Bridge, No rattles, bit of Viberations when on idle. Not sure what transmission these are but It had a noise howl, whine almost like an old Volvo, Brakes were smooth, Staircase seems a bit narrow but overall the StreetDecks seem Very nice Buses, I could picture these being perfectly comfy on the Birmingham Routes.
