What do you think certain routes would be like if they were operated by different garages ?

Would WN's 126 have had new buses years ago when the 9 had new buses if it was operated by BC ?

What if it was operated by PN, would we have seen a route run fully by single deckers and midi buses before they recieved any deckers?

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

I expect everything would be exactly the same. Head office decide a route is due new buses of a particular type and don't actually care which garage operates it

Do you think the X51 will ever get any new buses Tony? Id imagine its a pretty important service

@Bob I would imagine it would continue to be operated by spare deckers. Maybe if an existing WA Birmingham route was to get upgraded, it would receive cascaded Enviros?

I think the way the X51 is worked makes it a very hard route to 'upgrade'. On a weekday, there are 25 different boards with journeys on the X51 (of course some are peak only boards which could in theory use the same bus), which between them also work some journeys on the 7S, 10, 10A, 40, 41, X56, 302, 159, 701, 705, 881, 886, 934, 935, 936, 997 & 997E services - yet the off-peak PVR of the X51 is just 4 buses!

At the minimum, it would need to be upgraded alongside the 997 (which given the current status makes sense), but then there would still be a number of journeys not operated by the new fleet.

By comparison, the 51 is featured on just 16 boards - of which 3 are to do with the Evening interworking arrangements.

The X51 still gets a fairly decent allocation. Leather seated Enviros, high backed Geminis, 2/3 year old Enviros, and the odd Trident, could do a lot worse

There would be some difference potentially. Vehicles are allocated by HOF but both the type in the garage, the route and the average age in the garage are considered. Therefore if garage allocations were different then maybe new buses would have been allocated differently. The majority would be the same.

I always wonder what if the 120 didn't move from WB to PE

If LH didn't close the state of the 94s would be a lot better. "Sorry had to get that one in there."

@monkeyjoe I knew you were going to say something about the 94 as soon as I saw that you posted ;D

Of course if Lea Hall was still open it could have had the 41xx tridents even older than the PB 42xx Volvos
