"The last 45 from town runs near empty every night mate so I doubt Pershore Road should be a contender."

That is mainly as the times have only recently changed. A lot of people still think the last bus is a 47 leaving town at 00:03, when in fact there is another bus, a 45 leaving town at 00:18.
the last Pershore Rd bus is usually well used, even more so on Friday and Saturday nights.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Due to the shifts I work at weekends, I currently spend around £80-100 a month on taxis. Last week I actually finished late enough to get the first 14 home.
So for purely selfish reasons, if NX want to put on a 24hour service on any of the Saltley bound buses, I'd be very grateful! :)

personally I would make nightbuses (hourly minimum) on the 50 as far as maypole, 97 to airport, 9 as far as halesowen, Bristol Road (but merge the 61 and 63 for that so it does a one way loop serving both parts of the 61/63), 126 (probably to Dudley minimum), Pershore road (similar to how I suggested the Bristol Road), 900, 904, 957 and maybe 51

That's a really good suggestion running the 61/63 and the 45/47 as a loop.  Though, I suspect that even if they only ran as far as Northfield / Cotteridge it would be welcomed.

Possible something on the 74 (as far as West Bromwich),  and 37 as well.

I wonder if extra journeys will be added on Sunday morning/Saturday night. According to the NX Bus link, the last 50 on a Saturday night will be:
0403 from Moor St
0329 from Maypole

The first 50 on a Sunday morning is:
0600 from Moor St
0611 from Kings Heath/0636 from Maypole

That leaves a gap of approx. 2 hours between services on Saturday night/Sunday morning

We'll be providing the new service every hour starting at 01:03 from Moor St in Birmingham the city centre followed by services at 02:03, 03:03 and 04:03,  so if you tired of paying for expensive taxis or ringing up home in the early hours, we've got your return journey from work, a night out or a late night train journey sorted.

Don't worry, there's no inspectors out at that hour so free rides all round.

In fact, why not put "Free Service 50" on the front?

So is it terminating at Maypole during the night then?

Probably done to make sure it can be operated by one bus

I recall quite a few other services on the old night bus networks terminated short of their daytime terminus to allow for single bus operation, e.g. 62 to Longbridge, 45 to Man on the Moon etc

At least the running time should be possible, unlike the X64 which is one bus operation from about 9pm till last bus, hourly - 24minutes Corporation Street to Woodcock Hill. Regularly late. I'm sure @Tony can back me up on this.

That does sound extremely tight. You'd need a Leyland Lynx to stand a chance of keeping to time there. Actually a Lynx on the X64 = a 921.

OH25

There was a white vehicle with a billboard on the back of it advertising the new night service for the 50, seen it about 5 mins ago near Kings Heath
