I'm no expert but if they bought one of the ex stageys from the scrapline, could they have transplanted the body onto W904s original chassis to save rebuilding/parts costs? I'm pretty sure something similar was done with one of the NX Presidents?

Or the other option is somebody who did the 'refurb' which wasn't Rotala have ripped Rotala off

What's your personal take on all this Tony do you think I'm right with what I am saying I understand if you "decline to comment" per say but it's needless to say really we know what we think

My personal opinion is the option I posted above, although it is possible to do a full body transplant. I do know Rotala are investigating and I am sure Rotala have not put a ringer on the road with the knowledge of anyone at Rotala

Gareth

If the vehicle turns out to be not be what it says it is, and providing Rotala still want to use the bus, could it just be re registered either back to its original mark or another age appropriate one, or would the vehicle have to be withdrawn and/or scrapped?

jc

With it appearing to be a non DDA vehicle and no doubt outdating most of the Diamond fleet i would assume scrap.

To most people a bus is a bus and so when it showed up i doubt anyone batted an eyelid but certainly a suspicious vehicle from an enthusiast point of view!

Any news/ more insights? With all the Stagecoach ALX 200's appearing for scrap in these photo's https://www.flickr.com/photos/61188429@N06/13901138746/in/set-72157640963356223/ that have the exact same fronts, dashboards and colour grab poles as 30904 now it is certainly worth a thought!

From Tony's latest photo's I've now noticed some even more stonking differences! The roof, now has one circular dome on top rather than the two oblong bumps as previously and on its sisters. It also appears to have a o/s camera fitted along the top, now I admit this could have been an addition at refurb but why haven't the others received this?  In addition every single windows is different!

This must have had a body transplant or something, somewhere has been re-registered!

Arent the other W90X JNF DDA too? I wouldn't be happy to receive a non DDA bus back

We all assume it is mate BUT we're not allowed to air our views because it's "libeous" (or whatever that word is!)

Will, you can air your views, what you can't do is make accusations without knowing all the facts. It appears your observations were spot on, however, your other points appear to be miles from the truth & Rotala appear to be the victims in this, Winston

We have spoken to the repairer of this vehicle.

The vehicle had been badly damaged and the repairer who is well known to me, also buys in vehicles for breaking.  I understand that he used the parts off one of the ex-SCG vehicles.

I travelled on W904 JNF yesterday (15/05/14) on the 303 service Kidder - Worcester and I have to say what a wonderful vehicle it is the engine runs very well on it and the seats are comfy not the traditional URBAN 90 seats like some of the other Diamond vehicles but after all said & done I take back what I said and apologise refusely and all I can say is long may 30904 reign! Because she really is quite a good vehicle :)

Oh another note Simon (if you read this) when are you planning on entering the other JNF's into service at Kidderminster? and which ones will they be as I've seen 2 ([30902, W902 JNF] and [30516, W906 JNF]) in Redditch will those be transferred to KD or remain in Redditch and finally will 30903 (W903 JNF) enter traffic in KD or not?

Yep 30901/3. 30901 already at KR in blue but needs repairs. 30903 still needs work as well I think. Haven't seen it in a while.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.
