Forgive my ignorance, but I only know the Rugby routes that operate in Birmingham!
86, 85A (Sundays)
Local Routes
94/95, 11A/11C, 28.

The 86 is generally hourly, slightly more frequent at peak times, and the peak vehicle requirement (PVR) is probably 4. That said, bustimes shows that 6 buses in all have run on the 86 today.

On Sundays 2 buses are required on the 86, and the service interworks with a Rugby town service (1 to Hillmorton).  The Sunday 85A requires 1 bus.

The Rugby cross-town service that will become electric (4, Brownsover - Cawston  Grange) has a PVR of around 6 buses - and bustimes shows 6 buses in all have run on the 4 today - if I have counted correctly 🤞.

Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

It's understood that the four Yutong E12s for the 86 at Rugby are 73053-56, the four that have gone on loan to Kilmarnock in the meantime (as that depot has a large electric fleet already and chargers in place). Comments from people up there suggest they are due back in "January", so presumably the chargers at Rugby should be in place by then.

Thks for the info. Wonder if they will have the battery range be able to travel down to Rugby in one go without a recharge somewhere? Its a fair old distance.

Easily. The Yutong NX had came up from Newport and arrived with 82% charge still

It says on the page that it is an extension of their 88 Solihull to Balsall Common service via aspects of the old 2/2a route.

I wonder if they'll send it up Lavender Hall Lane and through Berkswell and Carol Green to get to Eastern Green/Tile Hill. They've not had a normal bus service up there in a long while.

It's not an extension of the 88, but a replacement. The new 188 service will replace the A3 between Solihull and Knowle as well.

At a best guess, from Balsall Common it will follow the 87's line of route to Charter Avenue, before picking up the 2 route.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Noted the 86 has a route and TT change from 04 January 2025. Wonder if we will also see the frequency return to every 30 mins as it was before covid?

Wouldn't that double the number of vehicles required? If so, I don't think 4 electric buses will be enough!

Yes, I also hope this happens, just 10 mins max to link from the Balsall Common 88 terminus to Tile Hill South and serve those hamlets, if so this makes the end to end 188 trip around 1h 25mins.
The NX 14/14A could be tweaked to maintain the Tile Hill South/Canley to Cannon Park link if the one-way routing is changed to run in both directions, one of each hourly should be ample if it intertwines (similar to 17/17A at Fenside).
Lastly, I still think it makes sense for the 87 to serve Cannon Hill Road but I'm not holding my breath.
