Hello all,

My first post here after discovering this very interesting and specialist board...

Does anyone have any photos of the beloved Metro's actually being built at Washwood Heath? I would be most impressed if anyone has :)

Cheers

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Wonderful !  Thank you....

Even though the image of 2440 isn't particularly clear, it gives a pretty good idea of what it was like to see them leaving the production line, set to serve thousands of miles and hours pounding the West Midlands. As you can tell, I am yet another big Metrobus fan and it was a privilege to be at ShowBus 2013 with such a good turnout.

It's actually 6385 (WDA 835T) - I know - it's a bit harder to tell in the 100x100 avatar tile :)  She was beautiful!! Also, 2912 next to her on the day was/is stunning. The WMT Silver Timesaver DPs were always a joy to travel on as a kid.

Ah - memories!

I bet she was!! oh the TimeSavers..

Better not start me on the memories of Metrobuses I could fill the forum server! (Haha)

It might be a coincidence but are you involved in any of the buses? Financially or otherwise? I think your name rings a bell

No, I'm not actually a part of any preservation groups but I do wish I were. That said, I'm not particularly clued up mechanically, and even though I really wanted to be a driver when I "grew up", I ended up in I.T; I've contacted several people in the past year just to see if there was any chance of moving one just a few feet - just to scratch "the itch" as it were... but insurance was the big issue as Kevin at Travel DeCourcey told me :P   I haven't had the cheek to ask Andy W whether I could drive his pride and joy a few feet, NOA 442X?
Anyway, I do always enjoy seeing the familiar faces whenever the chance arises. I'm sure those guys are aware of me lurking around :)

Drat! Ah, it's been a long day ;)  I'm glad a questioned it rather than assuming I'd remembered. hehe
Cheers for the correction there, Rob  8)

I allways wanted to (but never got to) go on one of the rare metros with the fleetline interiors sda831-4s, how come they were withdrawn early? There were loads of fleetlines of the same age and older that stayed in service for yearslonger than them :-(
