It will be the Wentloog (Newport) - To Daventry service, runs every day. On Sundays it goes through New Street, the only booked freight through New Street

Cross Country HST 43321+43301 (XC05) worked a Manchester Run yesterday

It was great to see a HST at Wolverhampton again after a number of years :D

Yes 43321+43301 worked the 16:03 to Glasgow Central as the service started at Birmingham New Street :)

Some interesting XC HST working today.  The 06:00 Leeds to Plymouth service (1V44) was cancelled at New Street at 08:13 due to the train striking a bird.  It restarted at Bristol Temple Meads at 09:44 with a 4-car Voyager substituting.  The 11:05 Manchester Piccadilly to Bristol Temple Meads service arrived at Temple Meads at 14:11 as an HST set.  It took over 1S51 (12:25 Plymouth to Glasgow Central) at Bristol with passengers from the South West transferred from the substitute 4-car Voyager onto the HST.  Presumably, the Voyager continued north as the 15:00 Bristol Temple Meads to Manchester Piccadilly service.  1S51 departed Bristol 12 down at 14:42 but was only 3 down arriving at New Street at 15:59.

Interestingly, both the 08:00 and 10:00 Bristol to Manchester services are shown on Realtime Trains as cancelled between Bristol and Birmingham for the same reason (the train striking a bird), although I would guess that the latter cancellation was due to the unit being commandeered to operate to Plymouth and back.  The question is - did the HST operate from Birmingham to Manchester and then back to Bristol ?

Yes it did. Surprised no-one seemed to report it at the time, it only came up in conversation about something else - namely that the 11.35 Chester-Euston appears to have been reduced to five cars on Fridays with no corresponding northbound change.

I'm guessing that the HST took over 1M21 (07:00 BRI - MAN) at New Street at 08:42.
