Don't understand why they are repainting PE Enviiros which aren't in to bad condition, however some of the Mercs (eg:1645) are in a real bad state!
Tony,

I agree, but may be NXWM are intending to introduce new Hagley Road branding once the majority are done? 1645 will be lucky to ever be treated to a repaint at this rate.......

1645 is the one that has been re-engined and LED's put in hasn't it? Because that bus saved me on Friday absolutely powering back to Dudley on the 246 in torrential snow without a problem, passing many other cars and vans that got themselves stuck, and it was warm too, but just a shame that from the outside its looking its 15 years

Saw what looked like 4151 heading to Walsall garage today and looks like it's had some new nearside panels and heading for a repaint back into NXWM livery for the second time.

4151 has been at Walsall for a couple of weeks now, see notes above

4151 is back in the paintshop at Walsall with its seats at Miller Street, not sure why!

Maybe accident damage. They might only paint the re-panelled area, rather than the whole bus again.

In which case why would the seats be at Miller Street?

1647 back in service repainted today.

I wonder which PE Merc will be next? 1645 or one of 1663 or 1664 if repairable?

I don't think they'll refurb any more 0405N, they are starting to be withdrawn and its really not worth it.
As for 1663 and 1664, its really not worth repairing them, unless the parts needed can be sourced from another withdrawn bus. The bendy parts would have probably been perfect. Suppose they're going to the scrap man if it is unrepairable.

They're are still refurbing Mercs, but only 1628 & above (i.e the T/V reg ones with the wheelchair ramps), these at least will still be around for a couple more years to come. It will just depend how badly fire damaged 1663 & 1664 are as to whether or not they are beyond economical repair

Stuharris 6360

I went past PE on Friday, 1664 was parked on the front row with other vehicles, unless i had known better, there did not look to much wrong with it.

1663 was a different matter with significant rear end damage, no back window, badly scourched area round bonnet, quite a number of blackened windows.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

As I understand it 1664 is fairly minor fire damage mainly confined to the engine compartment, 1663's future sounds as though it could be in doubt, it probably wont be worth repairing at this stage in its life

I don't think 1664 will be withdrawn but 1663 would require extensive repair.
