Hello everyone,

I just saw 1408 and 1450 were driven by the men in orange hi-vis jackets. They were going north on the expressway near Aston. Anyone may have an inkling as to where they may be heading to?

Thanks in advance.

My locals:

11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Walsall seems more likely, using the Expressway. I don't think they would have been going to Miller Street, they wouldn't use the Expressway going north.

I presume they have came from Yardley Wood, but if they are withdrawn, then are there enough single deckers for the 27 without taking too many OmniLinks off the 6? If they are not withdrawn, then a parts run or on their way for a MOT maybe?

Yes, you are right, both buses have had the blind of "27 Maypole".

Could be unrelated but I saw 2 omnilinks in convoy heading up KH High Street at about 12, the first said Not In Service and the second had "Driver Training" on the blinds, didnt catch fleetnumbers but both looked to be BX59 registrations so presumably ours. Makes me wonder though if the 2 sightings are connected. Saying that I'd expect pretty much every driver at YW is trained on Omnilinks by now considering they've run on every route there at some point?

Here is your answer for 1408

1450 was probably just taking the driver back to YW

1408 to be withdrawn then? Can't work out why it would be at PB

Yeah its just the Do Not Move - Do Not Start steering wheel cover to alert the next driver the vehicle is defective.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Thanks for the replies everyone, and for the picture, Tony. I wonder why 1408 is in PB garage (repairs, perhaps?).
