Why? The actual terminus is only up the road.

As already mentioned it saves 1 bus, also you don't tend to get many passengers past hamstead village usually

There's also the turning circle, so the bus can be turned safely.

The Green Lane turnaround is just as safe, the junction is wide enough for vehicles to do a whole turn.

1820 at Ward End earlier displaying "55 Saltley via Ward End". So seemingly on a untimetabled short working to Saltley.

4895 followed by 4613(?) both on 14Es to Stetchford yesterday, spotted at Millenium Point around 6
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters

I knew that ::). I thought the 14E shorts stopped when the new timetable started
