What I'm saying is, with regards to National Express buses, with the exception of the Optare Spectras, Optare Solos, Plaxton Presidents, Mercedes O405s, Dennis Darts, Volvo B6LEs and Volvo B10Ls, all their fleet is at least Euro3 compliant already, which is at present the minimum requirement for regular frequency services within the Birmingham SQP designated area. And most of the above listed bus types are already near their withdrawal date. And as NX is in a better financial position, seeing as a further brand new 300 odd new buses are due for purchase and delivery within the next couple of years, which will further withdraw most of the older vehicles, I fail to see why they would waste money on 'upgrading' older vehicles when there is no necessity to. Even if the minimum requirements for the Birmingham SQP change next year, vehicles can still cascade elsewhere.

And you could use the same argument for Rotala who may even have a higher percentage of their fleet at Euro3 than NX, and not many other operators have 29 vehicles!

Perhaps it is just because an operator wants the good publicity

Is it stated that the 29 buses receiving treatment will be from the same operator? It could be a selection from different operators.

The Facebook post I quoted from Bus Users UK only stated for the West Midlands what I highlighted in bold, there was no mention of a specific operator.

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath
