Just looking at the photo of 4473 on the main site, I notice a huge patch of faded red around the offside headlight, it looks as if the paint has just washed off... anyone know what causes this?

4609 has a similar faded patch on the nearside corner of the bumper.

All of the front of 1861 has faded and has been like it for quite a while now, not sure what has caused it to go like it.

Could be that the sealant on the final spray hasn't fully covered or even been compromised by or reacted with something.

I'm not so sure that it has faded in this instance, it looks more like red primer or undercoat and has yet to receive a top coat, more than likely where it has had accident damaged patched up.

God knows who selected the vehicles they did for branding on the 97. All these refurbished buses about now and they picked these nails.

If you look at all the other photos of the same vehicle it has been there for ages, just showed up more in the sun. I suspect it has had a garage hand paint patch up which hasn't lasted as well as the spray paint

4705 is also in the same condition as 4473, in the same place as well

I was about to make a similar topic to this... I found that the 997 Branded or Ex-Branded 997 buses are also starting to lack the bright red and is a slightly patchy red in some cases...

That's an understatement. Most of them are matt salmon pink.

I think NXWM should consider giving the early NXWM liveried E400's & Omnilinks a partial repaint of the front in the latest shade of red to improve the appearance of those vehicles. The ex NXC Omnilinks have turned out pretty well considering the white paintwork dates from new, it would extend the life of the current paintwork to allow NXWM to get all the TWM liveried fleet through the paintshop before newer vehicles also needed doing. Maybe an option would be to consider using an outside subcontractor to undertake the work, so WA paintshop capacity remains as present
