Like how they start/end certain early morning/late evening services at the depot presumably to avoid dead mileage.

It's so they can claim fuel duty rebate on the dead mileage, but only if the bus is still in service.

Interesting, looks like they're combining the 20 and 82 together. I presume from Shirley (as the timing point is listed as Morrisons) this will go via Solihull Road, Sharmans Cross Road and Streetsbrook Road to Solihull station.

They did that with the 'old' X20 route (Birmingham to Stratford), would need to check but I think they do with the current 20 service too.

Does anyone know what happened to the old X20 MMC deckers?

They've still got them, and they still do the X20 (except it's the Coventry to Stratford one!)

Busboy105

Why was the old X20 withdrawn? It had decent loadings.

Obviously didn't have decent loading or it wouldn't have been withdrawn

From Johnsons website:
https://www.johnsonscoaches.co.uk/news/145/bus-service-changes/

QuoteWith regards to our X20 service, please see below for further information as to why we have had to make these changes.

Unfortunately passenger numbers are too low for us to continue commercially operating a Monday to Saturday service into Birmingham City Centre and congestion along the Stratford Road is causing the service to have timetable reliability issues.

I don't know where you used to see 'decent loadings' but on the occasions I used to see their X20 buses on Stratford Road in Sparkbrook there were rarely more than a handful of people on board. And I would agree with their reasoning on reliability.

Most of those passengers were probably pass holders in which case, Johnsons wouldn't be making any money from.

OH25

There are a few bus stops in Coventry with X20 on them now, mainly by the Morrisons near Allesley. Is that a replacement for the withdrawn service or a completely different route?

The 'new' X20 service has replaced the 82 between Solihull and Coventry.

They are also used on the Stratford park and ride services.
