Birmingham Mail confirms the bus was out of service and heading back to AG garage, so no passengers were on board:

Seriously, I heard this this morning...

Got on the 37 in Acocks Green, then I heard the lady driver on the radio reporting she had a problem with the bus (a Scania OmniLink, didn't get the fleetnumber) as the "doors won't stay closed, they keep opening back up by themselves".

A voice came back, asking her to 'reboot it by turning it off and on again'  ;D (I thought this was only an IT-related in-joke, but she was asked to turn off the bus, leave it a couple of minutes, and then start it again, to see if that corrected the problem! To which she stated that she'd "already done that")

I haven't seen her driving the 37 before, so maybe she's a new driver - in fact I'm sure I saw her driving the 31 yesterday - so maybe she's not aware that this is a particular 'idiosyncrasy' with these Scanias.  ;)

We sat there for a couple of minutes, when the voice came back on the radio advising her that engineers had no spare vehicles, so she would have to continue, and she would be advised accordingly.

As it would have it, we continued on our merry way, and by the time I got off before Camp Hill, there had been no issue with the doors not closing properly.  8)

Lucky for me, I was only a couple of minutes late arriving at work, and after recounting this experience, we had a good chuckle at work about it!  :)

I've been on the odd Walsall Scania with a 'closing door' problem as well!

It may have been 1527 at West Brom, in February 2008. It may have just beaten the Yardley Wood Enviro400s and 4737 at Perry Barr into service

John,

I think it was the Presidents @ BC that first appeared in NX livery, the earlier ones were in the wrong shade of red

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Why did 4040 have NXWM logos then have them replaced with TWM logos ?

4050 and 4075 are now parked back to back inside AG. 4050 is nowhere near as bad as 4075

Photo to come I'm sure? 4050 didn't get a chance to spread did it? 4075's fire spread upwards fairly quick

Any chance it could be repaired
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).
