Quote from: BBS on November 05, 2023, 11:44:35 PMWith electrics coming soon, I see the 4/4A becoming deckers anyways. The E200mmcs can be well used for routes unable to accommodate deckers
Which routes are these then ?
The fleet already has far too many single deckers already. Until the Scanias are gone the single decker problem will not go away.

In AG, the mmcs could move fully onto the 17 and have the 73 maybe become e200mmc has a decent load but could still handle singles or even move to over depots to replace older singles.

We need double deckers to replace single deckers that keep appearing on routes 2, 3, 7, 33, 65, 67, 76 and 907

If you are referring to E400MMCs on the 17 then it would require a complete reroute of the 17 at tile Cross as both bridges are below 14 feet

Where has he mentioned E400MMC's ?, it's obvious he's referring to E200MMC's

And that is all part of the plan. There are 300 double decks on the way in the next couple of years, which will see off all the OmniLinks (147 at my latest count)

But some garages are still going to need single decks for routes that can't use doubles. So I would expect the newer Eclipse 2s and E200MMCs to end up more spread about.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

That's what i said, e200mmcs can be used and replace scania's. This basically leads to 4 becoming Deckers
Local Bus Routes: 4, 4A, A15, A16, 41,1,11A,11C, A9, A12

How can they? I can't see the MMC's being able to take on some of PB's Omnilinks services with the tight turns.

I expect more B7's from Coventry to help with this.

They were new for the 71. So thats one PB service they can run on at least.
Can they do the 28 and 66 as well?

Have you seen some of the turns on the 28, 66 and 96?

I remember WB banning them from the 46 because they couldn't make the turn at Scott Arms.

E200MMC's can stay at AG for the time being.

Definitely not the 96 that has some really tight turns notably going of chester road into buckingham road where the kerb has lots of blue paint from many past diamond buses

Quote from: ellspurs on November 05, 2023, 03:40:38 PMThe 37 was the first to get those low-floor N-reg buses (the ones that knelt but still had two steps to get in there with). Was that when they were made single-decker?

They were followed the next year by the truly low-floor P-reg buses, which the first lot I think were on the 529? The low-floor double deckers began in the R-reg batch with a load of S-reg ones coming after.
From memory Walsall had them first on the 311/3.
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

They don't need more single deckers either on there, unless they increase the frequency, which probably won't happen.

The days when the 120 was every 10 minutes between Brum and Oldbury, singles used to cope fine then.

Agreed, now the 12/A (previously 120) serve the Portland Road, with the 13/A (previously 127/128), they could do with less singles, the odd single here and there is fine during the day, but off peak, it's not uncommon to see standing passengers on single deck services
