Because the sound is different and we're all just bus wankers

There. I've said it

Why didn't I think of that instead of typing all the rubbish above?

I hope this is not going to start another debate about which automatic gearbox is better!  ???

The average passenger won't notice any difference to be honest, as the buses will look the same regardless of what gearbox they use!
@Stu its personal preference to some not which is best. As for me I enjoy voith more than ZF but enjoy riding both types on tridents or B7TL  all body types. As you say a bus is a bus at the end of the day and we are all bus nuts for different reasons

I agree (I'm a Voith fanboy personally). I'm really eager to get a ride on one of the ex CV Geminis
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89
Local routes: 12/A, 48/A
Semi-local routes: 54, 80, 87

Naahhhhhhhh, ZF for the win. Voith is so boring. The only plus with Voith is the scream of the retarder. With ZF, you can be cruising barely touching the throttle at 30, and when the going gets tough, boot the f*ck out of the throttle and knock it down a gear and listen to it scream (yes I'm talking about Geminis).

At around 30mph on Geminis, you can be sitting at around 1000 rpm, and when you see an incline, floor it and it'll stay in that gear till the road straightens out (like at Marsh Hill and Bournville (provided you enter it at 30 of course)). Then all up the hill it'll remain screaming. When you come to the next stop, it'll idle and all will seem well, and when you then move off, the cooling fans will being their roaring. Works on most Geminis, other than the ones with the kick down function removed, thus not revving as high.

Only Voiths I've driven to be fair are the B10Bs/B10Ls (and 1687 or 9 (I forget which is the training one) was better than all them) and the E200MMC.

4856 is on the 16/A today.

I agree with what U put before having grown up in the fleetline/metrobus/national 1 & 2 etc I tend to like the voith more becos of the legend that was the MCW metrobus.

Back on thread how long before 4689 & 4690 be at PB in Crimson? Also will all the CV Gemini's be heading to Birmingham & to the PB garage?

Saltley was very Crimson today, with those two, the E200's and at least one Trident on the 70. I also sampled 4687 today. Don't know what all the fuss is about. It's very much a Gemini, all be it a smart one, but I wasn't blown away with how different it sounds!

Eventually the novelty of the Voith CV Gem's will wear off once they are all at PB & when all the PB gem's get the crimson treatment as well.

I doubt it. There's 10 Voith ones, compared to 104 (4475-4534 & 4635-4679) ZF ones.

Edit, minus 4520

It's possibly returning as a trainer, but it's been under repair for a long time.
