Because maybe someone see's you as an easy target so used something they know you like to freak you out.

Psychology, think about it. If you make obvious you like a certain hobby, as an example buses, they use this to then confuse and in a way take the piss out of someone, by saying something related to that hobby is happening this then makes the person believe it is true and therefore taking the piss and when it is proved wrong you get freaked out and they've done both in one.

@Michael Bevan , has anyone had access to your phone and changed there name or created a contact in your contacts for NXWM.

Only reason is that I once managed to change my name in a friends phone to ITV. She had entered one of those Who Wants To Be A Millionaire competitions and so i text her and told her she had won £10,000 and gave the number of ITV HQ in London to ring and the contact name of Chris to speak to. As you can imagine I was in someones bad books for a while, but looking at the email you were sent, it seems a clear hoax.

It's a shame that as bus spotters, we seem to get the butt of many jokes, it's a hobby just as good as any other hobby!
