Following on from a post a member stated their interest in preserving a bus currently on fleet strength. I was just wondering what bus would be a fav presevation project for recently withdrawn/currently being withdrawn NX buses
Also I ask if in fact there is any info/interest in anyone preserving any of the Optare Excells recently withdrawn, the Volvo B6's most of which now withdrawn and in particular the Optare Spectra's. Is there any movement on anything been preserved?
Forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn but surely something must be going on with 4001, I'ts been off the road for ages but still at WN surely whatever is wrong with it does not take that long to fix?
I have a hunch 4001 has a destiny, but what? and with whom???
Personally given the time money & opportunity 1501 would be my option but also 7084/6 surely would be a rare & unique project and an L960 would be interesting as I don't think anyone will do one of them but imagine seen one in 20 years time people would say 'oh yes I remember them (just about  ;D)

Volvo B6, we all have memories of those tiny wheels and out of proportion windows. Love to see one as new condition .. I really did enjoy those buses.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

I quite fancy turning a Solo into a Hot Rod.

Failing that, I've got designs on 1743, which I would love to return to as-new-to-TWM plain white condition with its front wheel-trims gleaming.

I do think that 4001 is a candidate for preservation, with it supposed to be the first low floor double decker in service in the country, but most of us know the story to that one!

Rumour has it that 4001 will be back on the road or so i was told a month or so ago

I wouldn't mind either a Pointer Dart or R601YON (in TMH livery of course!)

All opinions and onions mentioned on here are mine and not those of any employer, current, past, present or future, or presented as fact, unless I prove it otherwise.

It has to be a 15XX merc as they are rare

Ashley 4569

Which 15xx merc do you have in mind richie?

I think 1523 being the first merc bodied bus

Ashley 4569

Not a bad merc is 1523, if were in that sort of area of the fleet id myself prefer 1525 but as your a PE driver you may know of any floors it may have

Being a single decker, it only has one floor

I've voted for the Liberator because they're my 2nd favourite buses and if I could preserve any I would preserve 1427, 1429 & 1467 because they were my favourite's when they were at AG

I do kind of miss 1429, with its unusual green and yellow interior trim. Still never found out the story behind that.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath
