Matt, Although not a 529 i waited for a 59 for 20-25 mins and it still didn't turn up so i caught the 89 but just after a Merc Packed to the brim (No exaggeration there either!) turned up on a 59.

529 queues always look almost that busy anyway even on sunday.

The 529 queues definitely don't stretch back out those doors every day and definitely not on Sundays

Wonder why diamond came off then-they hardly gave it a try- 3 months on the 529e-maybe if they had persevered more with the service then it would have done well

B7RLEs on the 311/3 are normal!

I would say it is slightly unusual to have so many B7RLEs on the 4, though.

Had a ride on the 1769 on the 4 today was the hottest bus I have ever been on the heating must have been on as there was hot air blowing from somewhere everyone was trying to use bits of paper and the metro newspapers as fans it was funny seeing the passengers faces as they boarded the bus because the heat literally just hit you like an oven. I traveled on 1851 about 20 minutes before that and although the bus was quite warm it was bearable.

One of the few things going for the scanias-i noticed this on X62 before in the summer-is that the windows-3 big ones on each side allow for a lot of airflow through the bus which is good and is helped by the tinted windows-YW's enviro400s on the 50 were fine even on saturday upstairs in the sun. Sliders are best of course...

Suppose it's the same as in your car (if it doesn't have air conditioning), the blowers seem to just blow warm air around in weather like this. Would have been better for the driver to switch them off!
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Does it have to be turned on and off by an engineer then Tony?

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Well not that long but most journeys mon-sat do have big queues. Not the first time i've seen 529 queues in W'ton station like that. Does happen quite regually especiall at peak time

First trident on an 81. Was it an 81E to Dudley From Wolverhampton?
No deckers are to go into Netherton due to low hanging trees.

Which roads in Netherton? Because the odd decker has appeared on the 244

And once, a spectra appeared on the 583.

On the subject of ventilation, is there no low floor double deckers produced thesedays that have the front opening flap windows that the Metrobuses (& before that the Fleetlines & Bristol VR's!) used to have?

Windows open full & you sitting in the right place on the top deck were miles better than the bus air con.

I was reminded of this on Sunday when visiting Aston Manor & having a ride on ex WMPTE 4714 to Chasewater & back.

There was an Midland Red Olympian there as well which didn't have those windows & that dated from the 80's ISTR.

Was there any reason newer bus designs omitted those windows?

I believe from St Andrews St onwards, that's what we are told, no deckers to enter Netherton :(
