One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

Any of the preserved? I remember a few years ago there was one at Wythall doing trips
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

1290 is preserved in TWM red, white and blue livery. 1266 is preserved in as new grey and blue livery.

1064 was also saved and there were videos on YouTube showing very early restoration work, but I have no idea on its current status.

Interesting that several garages missed out, including Perry Barr and Liverpool Street at first glance.  I'm sure there were fewer single decker routes back in the Eighties, but were there still plenty of Nationals knocking around, I guess there must've been.  Did PB and LS have allocations of Nationals, or no single decker diagrams?  And at the likes of Walsall and West Brom, what was the Lynx effect?  i.e what did they displace, if anything?
Don't you start.

The introduction of the Lynxes was the start of the single decker invasion that would be resumed in 1995 with many taking over from double deckers. At the time they were ordered in 1988 the plan was for the still large fleet of Fleetlines to be withdrawn by 1991. Of course by 1991, WMT was a privately owned company who had quite a sizeale number of the fleet away on loan or in reserve and new deliveries pretty much dried up.

Birmingham Central was 100% Metrobus since 1986 and would remain so until the Scanias arrived. And I think at that time Perry Barr only had Metrobuses and Fleetlines.
