What you're talking about is a bus that struggles for power but manages to eventually get up to speed. These buses are okay for service until next overhaul
yea im talking about the struggling bus stage 1 and 2 limp basically where a max of 35% power reduction

what tony n winston n stu was on about is stage 3 limp where the bus cant pass 20mph which is indeed a hazard to the road

limp mode exists to reduce the strain on the bus so it keeps moving, it can still move and collect passengers but of course with a problem that can be fixed another time.

buses move till they break. they get fixed then they move till they break
No sorry, that is factually not correct.

As I stated already, 'limp mode' is an engine management system that is activated when a fault is detected, and it is for the purpose of getting a vehicle safely to a garage or workshop at a reduced speed to prevent any potential damage to the engine.

It's not just buses that have this, most modern vehicles, including cars and small vans, have this too.

For clarity, while I do not work in the bus industry, my main profession is in automotive aftermarket parts distribution, which I have been doing on and off for over 25 years now, so yes I do like to think I know what I'm talking about, even if not directly related to buses.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

There's only one limp mode, I've already explained what that is.

20mph is optimistic in limp mode, last bus I nursed back to the garage in limp mode managed 11mph at most.

10mph was the figure I had in mind.
