They do the job of getting people from a to b fine?

In the Midlands at least Stagecoach have 18 year old tridents at leamington/northampton, rotala have 16/17/18 year old B7s and 21101/2 at Redditch/Kidderminster still with their orriginal interiors.
& every other large operator probably has older vehicles too.
Local Routes
94/95, 11A/11C, 28.

QuoteThe MoT inspector at Coventry today must have thought they had stepped back in time today.

Oldest bus presented there today was 20 years and 5 months old YW 4610, so looks like being one of the last Tridents running.  Also presented and passed today though were 20 years and 4 months old 4656 from AG. A third bus presented also from YW was 4719 itself coming up to 18 years old. 2221 & E073 completed the set for today for them.
Isn't 4656 a non euro 6 though?

Not sure you can compare small towns like Leamington and Northampton (which have always been dumping grounds anyway) to the bus operation serving the second biggest City in the country.

There aren't many (if any?) large PTE areas with buses over 20 years old running round, make of that what you will.

Can't have long left now surely. Probably get a higher re-sale price with a full MOT though?

Was looking at the NX index and saw 4393 says it's for resale however DVLA says it's SORN.

Is 4393 actually being resold if so that would be cool because that's the last 52 Trident that was with NX

SORN = "Statutory Off Road Notification"

Just means the vehicle is being kept in storage and not used on public roads
My locals:

11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley

The difference with NXWM is that they carry out a mid-life refurbishment on the vast majority of vehicles, most of the big groups do not (unless it's a vehicle cascaded out of London) and there is a high engineering excellence at NXWM built on from WMT days with the BSI standard achievement.

E259 is today's delivery to Yardley Wood, already inspected, so should be in service quite quickly

Perhaps not but many of the large operators have really old fleet members hanging around.  Go Ahead in Plymouth, Swindon and Colchester, I could go on. First Kernow and Essex etc.  Stagecoach and Transdev etc all have plenty of older buses in service too.
NX probably no worse than any of them but it is an operation concentrated in one area, a PTE area.

Plymouth, Swindon and Colchester are not comparable operating markets to Birmingham.

Nor are Kernow or Essex.

These operating markets you describe have always had cast off vehicles and been relatively poor relations of the better operating markets that those PLCs have activity within.

Can't see what your trying to point out here? It's sounds the same as all the others?

There was nothing wrong with 4626's engine or gearbox, both have been reused and it was one of YW's most reliable tridents, just the chassis had rotted beyond economic repair

It's not even that bad and of course you're gonna expect something to happen to a 20 year old bus
