It depends on when the remainder of the electrics get delivered and into service.
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Will probably get dumped to WB for another few years of service

I stand to be corrected but I thought they'd all been delivered several months ago and the delay is related to the power supply legalities

I may well have missed some strategic statement, but it doesn't seem plausible to me that 100+ saloons would be replaced like-for-like by deckers, unless as an interim part of a cascade and until buses with more appropriate passenger carrying capacity become available as long-term replacements.

I don't see a problem with this, if anything it will encourage more people seeing more deckers around than "saloons", more leg room, more comfort etc. Plus E400EVs don't have as high a capacity as you might think, way less than E400s, 64-72 seated. An Omnilink can't seat that many, but with standees can carry around the same, if not more.

I've been trying to work out the capacities of the other electrics now on the market, the most I can see is 73 seats on some Ulsterbus Wright Electroliners but of course legroom is unknown. The new ADL electrics for Stagecoach Warwickshire appear have 69.

Will the days of 77 seat Tridents and E400s ever return?

No, because people now expect more room

Just revisiting your comment again.

The majority of OmniLinks at YW will get withdrawn once the rest of the new electrics arrive. There'll have to be some left there though for the 27 service that needs single decks.

If you mean OmniLinks across the whole fleet, there's no chance of a majority of those being withdrawn this year, not without new vehicles coming in to replace them.

There's still another 130 double-deck electrics due to be delivered out of the current order of 300, but it looks like this won't happen until next year now it seems.

It's going to take some time to reduce the overall numbers of single-deck vehicles, so people are just going to have to be a bit patient for a while longer.

Go for a ride on 3225 next time we are able to use it at an open day, people love it but all pass comments about the lack of space.
