The 49 was in a total shambles today, almost every other bus was an E or cut short, I had to transfer from the fantastic 4098 at the Maypole, this is definitely a route that if they have any sense will be split up, a nearly 2 hour route being run by ageing Presidents is just a recipe for trouble

Ditto the 11, I know AG run it but same thing applies.

Every other 49 is timetabled to be an 'E'

To Cotteridge, not the Maypole. There is, however, one timetabled 'E' journey to the Maypole in the morning, timetabled to leave Solihull around 8:40 arriving around 9:10 at the Maypole. Does that fit with your journey, Matt?

But very few buses turned at the Maypole

No my journey was about 12 o'clock and yes thats why I'm arguing for the route to be split as it is half of the time anyway

Isn't it the South Birmingham/Solihull Network Review in a couple months? You would think something will be done about the 49
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89
Local routes: 12/A, 48/A
Semi-local routes: 54, 80, 87

I use the 49 every weekday and apart from the slight blip have never had any trouble with it.

Ashley

I've used the 49 endless numbers of times. No complaints with the route at all

Sh4318

I have had problems with it, the last time I caught it I waited 40 minutes for it (in Northfield). One service seemed to disappear. You would think any reliability issues would be down to the size of the route

Yes, and the 49 was one of the routes under consultation.

Centro's proposal for the 49 is to split the route into 2 or 3 sections, with the preferred proposal seeming to be to curtail the 49 to Solihull to Frankley, and then extend the 29 to Rubery to cover the rest:

They also mentioned that wherever they choose to split the route, passengers will be inconvenienced, which is true. The most logical terminus would be Frankley, although I'm not completely familiar with South Birmingham

Liverpool Street

I can't remember an issue when the 49 terminated at Royal Orthopaedic./Northfield.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

I recall them only running to Frankley at one time. Soon changed them back to Northfield.
