Eh, Mercs are one of the few buses left out the old school that can go if a driver wants them to. Shows what I always say, a passenger cannot tell a good bus from a bad bus, all depends on driving style

All I'm going to say is NXWM are going to loose money on Hayley green- halesowen sector. Offering £2.50 on 4H with far nicer buses, and NXWM have the cheek to ask £2.20 for a single, on the most disgraceful vehicles they have. We are paying extra for other people to have even more moderner buses, and we're stuck with rusting Mercs!!

The diamonds branded 002 vehicles are nice but the mercs aren't that bad I have a fair few favourites

Apart from bus enthusiast, have you ever known a passenger say 'I'm not getting on that bus because it is the wrong type of bus I am going to wait for the other operator because his bus may be better (It could also be an old MPD on the 4H).

Putting brand new buses on a route will quite often attract new custom as will fare initiatives and other marketing tools, but once you have people waiting at a stop it is very rare for them not to get on the first bus that arrives going where they want to go that their money/pass will be accepted on

Yes, people moan at the state of the Mercs, and the 4H has higher frequency, and there's not many people using 244 now

Took a trip to Shrewsbury + Crewe today, it's been a while since I've been in Shrewsbury so I thought why not.

London Midland - 14:07 - Smethwick Galton Bridge - Wolverhampton, Class 350 235(?) (either I'm really unlucky, or the Liverpool-Birminghams have been mainly 350/2 recently, I haven't seen a /1 on there for a while)
London Midland - 14:25 - Wolverhampton - Shrewsbury, Class 170/5, 170511 + 170514
*pause at Shrewsbury for rail photos*
Arriva Trains Wales - 16:24 - Shrewsbury - Crewe, Class 153 353 (I always get the two hourly stopper when going from Shrewsbury to Crewe, being on a 153 makes the trip so much better)
*pause at Crewe for rail photos (got my second Class 350/3)*
Arriva Trains Wales - 18:09 - Crewe - Shrewsbury, Class 175(?), (good for long distance journeys, but I will always prefer the Express Sprinters)
Arriva Trains Wales - 19:33 - Shrewsbury - Smethwick Galton Bridge - Class 158 830(?)
Class 153, 155 and 156. The Super Sprinters
"Around the corner" routes: 21, 89
Local routes: 12/A, 48/A
Semi-local routes: 54, 80, 87

Most used routes in bold

I tried to get some variety of vehicles, operators and scenery today: -

NXWM 4097 - 49 to Shirley Station
LM Class 172 Shirley - Birmingham Moor Street
NXWM 4295 - 127 Birmingham - Dudley         (my first B7TL over the hills)
Arriva  2257 - 223 Dudley - Sedgley                (narrow roads and tough hills - the hilliest route in the Centro area?)
NXWM   848 - 27 Sedgley - Wolverhampton
Arriva  4800 - 530 Wolverhampton - Bilston   (Arriva 530 seemed to be all double deck today)
NXWM 4010 - 82 Bilston - Wolverhampton    (in preference to Banga P108 HCH which was on a layover)
NXWM 1419 - 39 Wolverhampton - Walsall    (a good run on a type I shall miss)
Arriva  3303 - 1 Walsall - Bloxwich                 (my first single deck Sapphire)
Diamond 20505 - 302 Bloxwich - Walsall       (not like Sapphire!)
NXWM 4327 - 77 Walsall - Sutton Coldfield
Central Buses EU06 KPA - 75 Sutton Coldfield - Birmingham International   (no Coleshill Connection Enviro or Versa :()
NXWM 4639 - 966 Birmingham International - Solihull
NXWM 4364 - 49 Solihull - Shirley
