Hello there :)

I wondered about what was the longest ever rail replacement service operated

Today for example there is a near on 4 hour bus from London Euston to Northampton (fair enough if operated by coach but say operated by a dart or something LOL :)
Vinny - frequent bus traveller :-)

there have been occassions when Virgin have been coaches through from Preston to Glasgow/Edinburgh, but showing as separate services north and south of Carlisle

Not strictly a replacement bus service, but me sister once had to get a taxi from Cheltenham to Birmingham because her train (the last one of the day) had to terminate early, and she shared a taxi with someone who still had to get to scotland
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

I expect it will be operated by a coach, it would be different if it was a local service

You say that, couple of weeks ago I had the dubious pleasure of a full on coach for the replacement bus Birmingham - Walsall
