Arriva Sapphire

Arriva Midlands are definitely getting new Sapphire buses in 2014. I believe it to be Tamworth, Derby and one other garage.

I assume the other garage might well be for services in Leicester with First making a start to improve their fleet?

Will they be new build ADL E400's?

Someone told me off the record that the route 1 cannock-walsall was going to be upgraded to Sapphire standard? Really...I cant see it myself but you never know. ..

Yes, new build E400 for at least Tamworth and Derby.

It's always possible, it's an important corridor for Arriva and with the current on-going fleet issues at Cannock, I'm sure Arriva need to be seen to be attempting to improve the situation with further new investment, if that corridor was upgraded, it would release Commanders to allows withdrawal of older unreliable Darts

At present you wouldnt think it was an important corridor,  a lot of the time the commanders are on other routss and the 1 gets the even older volvos or darts on it. Out of all the services in cannock the walsall corridor is possibly the one most vulnerable to potential competition so arriva could do with watching out lol

It would be the easiest one for NX to compete on from Walsall garage. But I doubt they will as they withdrew from Cannock sometime ago

Tbh the 10 is a good route for Wednesfield that directly competes against NX 10 and gets good loadings

Well those B9TL's have been good workhorses for Arriva especially the Tamworth ones. The 110 would be a good contender for Sapphire surely?

The 110 is going sapphire, a source of mine at Arriva tells me tthat they are looking at getting some streetlites for the 1
