I thought Long Acre was quite a busy depot, from what I see going to/from work in Nechells

Long Acre generally deals with new intakes & disposals for various group subsidiaries.

As an operation base, the fleet has shrunk quite a lot over the past couple of years due to commercial service withdrawals; Centro/NEC & NX contract losses etc. Capacity wise, I would guess its a around 50% of the fleet strength it once had
An ideal place for in house refurbs like NX do at Miller Street.

Dan,

NX buses are generally refurb'd at Walsall Paintshop, Miller St only recover the seats

Thats true but then again Rotala could go one step further, and do it all in house.
Midland Red West, one of the best Companies to serve Redditch, with some of the best buses.

Ash

There is a new diamond livery president parked up at Long Acre been there a couple of days now. Not sure if its there for maintenance.

NX do it all in house so how is that 'one step further'?

It would make sense because Preston do do in house and I think Wessex have done (not to sure). I mean it would save them some cash in the long run as they don't have to wait for them to be done you just have to make sure you have buses to cover those at Long Acre that's all.

I would be very surprised if Wessex do full bus seat retrims in house. Very few operators other than the big groups do it as to employ people to do it on a small fleet is expensive, most smaller operators use one of the many retrim specialists
