Unusual Workings - April 2013

WN and WA do usually have lots of unusual workings.

Stu

AG only operate four vehicle types, two single (Scania Omnilink and Wright Urban 2) and two double (Wright Gemini and Plaxton President).

But all their vehicles operate on routes they're not normally allocated to, so unusual workings are actually quite common.

For example: Urban 2s on the 1, 5, 31/A and 37 (and even on the 11)
Omnilinks on the 1, 5, 11A/C, 31/31A, 71/72, 966
Geminis on the 37, S1

The only truly unusual workings you'll ever see on AG services are Presidents on the 5, and any double-decks on the 71/72, due to bridge restrictions, so sadly you'll never see them.  ;)
My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

I like YW because, with the exception of the 27. Any bus can go on any route (minus Presidents and B10s). So you can get an Omnilink on the 2/3 or a E400 on the 18. I've never seen an Omnilink on the 50, that has to go on the rarest workings ever. I like WA because, like WN, they operate a lot of vehicle types, 3 DD & 4 SD, so rare workings are more interesting, such as a trident on the 301. I can't keep up with WN anymore, to be honest

I only saw one once, while I was passing through Moseley Village, I think it was the Sunday when the old Pope came to visit Birmingham.

I seem to recall there was a number of them on the 50 that day, due to the large number of buses used at Cofton Park.

There is a picture on flickr somewhere of a B10L/Ultra on a 50E

BC Trident on the 9 first thing this morning, now I might be totally wrong on this but don't PE now work all running of the 9s or have I just missed it for the last few months

BC definitely do one or two morning peak boards on the 9, not sure where they start from inbound but I believe they go on to 829 St Pauls School workings on reaching town. I've seen 4425 and 4364 on there in recent times.

Do you know roughly where these peak running board(s) are at what time?

Isn't it a 9S? Was the last time I was on that school. Not bad really.

Anyone spot the BC Trident on the 966 of a morning? Terrible duty but the same driver has done it for the past 5 or what years lol

Used to be the 9S, but is now the 829 when taking children to school and a normal 9 on the return

Dear me I am behind the times.

The afternoon 829 then is with 1 and a half X64's. Is it 1616 from Priory Square? Nice run. Easier to do that run in a decker then a B7RLE.
