Has anyone seen this?

Collect-and-build your own routemaster, it's brilliant!
Issue 1: £1.99
Issue 2: £4.99
Issue 3+: £7.99 (98 issues at this price)

1:12 scale, with much more 'funtionality' than the 1:24 Sun Star models. I've subscribed, only for the free gifts :P - but really only keen for the roundel badge. I hope I can finish this. Totaled price, the build would be just under £800...

Ouch! I remember they did those before with all sorts but I bet they do a couple then when the uptake isn't what they were expecting they stop selling it so your left with a 1/9999999999th built bus!

Looks good. A code 3, from Corgi's 'Best of British' souvenir(?) range. I won't lie, the paint looks a bit shoddy and blotchy in some areas, although, still decent overall... Shame about the price though. Around six times it's original retail price, and I can only imagine it getting higher.

May I suggest that this thread should be moved to the General Discussions section? Considering that there is a slim chance of another NXWM model, unless manufactured by OOC,  in the process, at the moment - which suggests that this thread may/no longer have any more relatable replies regarding NXWM.

All the same, whilst recently browsing among Modelbuszone[dot]com recently, i've noticed that in the proposed OOC models, they wish to release 5 additional New Routemasters. Not too exciting, I know - until I clocked that one was in the Silver Heritage(?) livery - and the other with allover Coca-Cola branding (see link)

http://modelbuszone.co.uk/ooc/dd/om466/om46615a.htm

Which made me think, of course this livery is still in use, as opposed to say, the YouTube ads, but what if OOC would imagine recreating the Exterion Media ads, which would lead to a plethora of new models... For example, 'Adidas', 'Proper Corn', 'Tommy Hilfiger', 'VitaCoco' (Coconut Water), etc... There would be endless possibilities - which again, would propbably all come down to cost. So yet again, I let my mind wonder off... ::) :D

Perhaps when Exterion make the vinyls for the allover ads, they could produce sets in miniture as well, so modelers could just apply the adverts themselves?

Just a note to say there may be a WMPTE model to come in the not too distant future. Talks have began with Jotus model manufactorers in China and there is real possibility something will happen.

Seems the only thing we can do is hope for it... Your idea sounds wonderful, Tony. :)

So you pay £800 to get one model and have to build it yourself!

Gareth

The build your own Routemaster never happened. It was cancelled due to 'production difficulties' before the first issue was published. I had a letter of apology and a random free magnifying glass for the inconvenience.

Very true. I have often wondered why EFE never produced any WMT/TWM/ NXWM versions of their models. I guess something to do with licensing but surely there would be a decent market for them. I always wanted a Fleetline in WMT red stripe livery, but a National would be equally well received.

EFE have produced a few models as this page from the Modelbuszone website shows

http://www.modelbuszone.co.uk/efe/operators/westmididx.html

I have the Leyland National, Daimler CVG6, Wright bodied Volvo B10B, Willowbrook bodied Leopard and both the old and new versions of the DMS Fleetline, the latter only released in April 2015.

I have a few of those, but the models I particular want are post deregulation 1986 models which EFE does not seem to do for the West Midland Travel etc.

Haven't been purchasing models for a (long) while; i'm talking years.. Today, I decided I'd break into the piggy bank and treat myself to a particular model I've been eying up for a while; the New Routemaster

Now, I could've waited a little longer for Corgi's 60th Anniversary "Book of Mormon" Routemaster, but since I was browsing in person, I settled on the Silver livery one instead:

OM46614B: New Routemaster (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) 453, Deptford Bridge
Certified: 1067 of 1600
