I think at the least that Night Services are needed on major routes on Friday & Saturday night.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

I'd agree with that Stu, in the main I don't think there's demand for buses during the night Sun - Thurs. As Makka has said some routes would benefit from operating slightly later & finishing between 12- 1 am

Why did they withdraw the original 'night services'?

Because of lack of use.

Well, there WOULD be lack of use, wouldn't there? What did they expect? It's Night Bus for a reason... IMO, The fares could've been way cheaper to get people to stay out longer, and spend less, and so forth, keeping the Night Buses running to date...  8) Rant Over. lol

Didnt we used to have night buses that ran down by the courts (current exit for service 33/51/65/67/934/935/935A/936/997/997E/952/907/X51/X56/33/56 and so forth ?

Passes are valid and daysavers are valid up until 5am(I think) with the previous days date. In effect a daysaver on the 97 is valid for 29hours.
5am?
wow
this means I could easily get my local bus into town which departs 4:49 from where I am :P

Only valid until 5am on the 97, on all other routes it is until end of service, ie around midnight

NXWM Daysavers/Travelcards valid until 0159 (no exceptions)
nBus/nNetwork until 0000
nx Early Bird 0000 to 0929
nBus/nNetwork Early Bird 0400-0929

Therefore My Nbus Bus Pass wouldn't be valid on the last 997 from Birmingham  :o useful info to know though

Strange that, as the instructions given to staff, including the revenue team who have to enforce the rules are that:-

All tickets (Daysavers/Travelcards/nbus/nNetwork) are valid until end of service.
The only route where this doesn't apply is the 97 which has no 'end of service' and they are valid until 05:00 so not sure where you got your times from

Gareth

I regularly use my nBus pass on the 00.07 14 from City Centre and the 00.10 8c from the Jewellery Quarter. I've never been questioned or stopped.

If the nBus expires on that day you cannot use it after 0000 after the date of expiry e.g. if it runs out on the 21/02/14 then it can only be used until 0000 on 21/02/14 - if you use it within the dates of its validity i.e. on the 20/02/14 you can use it all night (unless it is a dedicated night bus of which there are currently none). The conditions changed when the 24-hour operation of the 97 commenced - previously the conditions were - until the end of daytime service.

Gareth

Well if the terms and conditions have changed then maybe it should have 1, been published for passengers to see and 2, for drivers to enforce the rules. As it stands if those changes have indeed happened then I have had free bus journey every week since the 97 started introduction.

May I ask how you are aware of these changes, even when NXWM revenue team are unaware?

The revenue team are aware.  There is a notice that tells us that the cut off time is 5am.  So I am not sure where tc gets his information from

Gareth

But can I use my nBus pass on the last bus home (after midnight) when it's just over the expiry date.

Stu

Technically no, as your pass has a 'not valid after' date.

For example, my current pass says not valid after 1st November, so if I'm out somewhere on 1st November late at night, if I try to catch a bus at 00:14 the date will be 2nd November so my pass should be invalid.

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Management have today confirmed all tickets are valid to board a bus until 0159 next day
