I wonder what a garage take into consideration when deciding what vehicles should be withdrawn.

Obviously the age and general overall condition of that vehicle, but do they take the service history into account? I always notice at PE that the T and V reg Mercs always seem to be under repair more the R and S reg ones.
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

The garages don't! Someone at head office does mostly decided on the book value.

There book value will be lower than similar Mercs due to not being refurbished

Its something to do with a lack of power in the Volvo B5s, thats all ive been told.

1556 and 1592 are also unrefurbished mercs

On a definate note, 4084 back at WB, on the 5 today

Who did you hear the rumour from Ashley? I would say it's possible at some point given the quantities if the 2 Hybrid vehicle types but the WN hybrids haven't been in service for long and it looks like NXWM intend comparing vehicle types alongside one another on the same routes. I think it was Driver03 who said there was no issue with keeping to time on the 1 with B5s.

While the E400H may be quicker over the first few yards pulling away, performance seems to be a lot to do with the way buses are driven. There's one driver on the 22/23 who, lets just say, is good at making up time when running late. He certainly doesn't let a B5 slow him down.

If they withdrew WBs oldest Mercs then 1523 1561 and 1577 would be a good guess given their lack of refurb.

Isn't 1556 un-refurbished as well?

I don't think it is Winston

Its got full connector bars so I'd be surprised if it had a retrim during that period?

Yes, seen 1556 today on the 42, still has the original seats from new

The set up is different on both vehicles and I think the B5 take more getting used to. I believe the E400 are quicker off the mark but the B5's will catch them no problem after an engine restart & a couple of gear changes! once them B5's get going they shift! the one I was on last week demolished the Northway on the way to Dudley and was still accelerating most the way up the hill no problem at all  :)
