Apologies for the sarcasm, but why was Wolverhampton having separate fleetnames anyway?

Don't recall it ever being explained.

Buses were branded to celebrate 100 years of National Express West Midlands (as @PB2938 rightly states), and its predecessors TWM/WM Buses/WMT/WMPTE/Wolverhampton Corporation, and sported the City of Wolverhampton crest.

Are these Mk1 Volvos likely to find there way into the training fleet?

I would think they are candidates to be sold on, 15 years old they don't look their age at all. In fact I still think they have life in them. Still thought they would of lasted another few years yet...

Probably been chosen as they are euro 3 single decks as well and no longer required. Makes sense rather than deckers going.
Once these go the single deck fleet will all be euro 6 I think.

Amazing how passengers perceive 12 year old Scanias are better than the younger Platinums that occasionally strayed onto the route!
Strange opinion. I'd have a platinum or any decker (I caught 4844 today) over a rammed packed scania on busy 94/95, 14's etc. The platinums also have next stop announcements, USB charging ponts, etc that an omnilink doesn't have.
Also having extra space onboard (deckers) might encourage people to return to using the bus as well, which they are obviously hoping for as there's some buses carrying rear adverts and an NX Bus advert on a telephone box in Ward End.

The Scanias and other single decks might seem more spacious though, for the elderly and those that are less mobile. They are way less likely to use the upper deck, and the OmniLinks are longer than a decker, with more room than the lower deck of one.

Any views/comments are my own and do not reflect those of my employer.

Means more people will go upstairs though and that leaves more room for people who tend to stay downstairs, including the elderly/less mobile and people with pushchairs on the lower deck. Good those scanias are now gone from the 55/95 I think, they would get overcrowded with standing passengers when they were used on there, I don't remember them feeling spacious.

I guess its a little sad to hear these MK1 Wright Eclipse B7RLEs being withdrawn from service.

But on the other hand, is it not true that NX Bus have a 'surplus' of single deck vehicles?

I wonder if, with the impending arrival of these Hydrogen Streetdecks to Walsall, could we see some OmniLinks from elsewhere being shuffled around?

(Or is that just wishful thinking on my part!  ;D )

As a matter of interest, what was the total number of Singles and Double Decker buses in service for NXWM in Sep 2012 - compared to the number in 2021?

2021 = 431 Singles? 946 Doubles?

Not sure where you have those numbers from, but as of 1/9/21 the fleet allocated to garages for service (not trainers or reserve fleet) was 1061 doubles and 486 singles
