Seem to have missed something here.

How come Walsall are getting Eclipse 2's, to go with their Eclipse 1's?

Nothing unusual. Most garages had MK1 and MK2 metrobuses! 😜

Then again, isn't Bordesley Green the newest of all NXWM Garages?

That is true. I was thinking of the garages at the time of the PTE.

Stour bridge and Oldbury didn't have Mk1 Metros (to the best of my memory!)

If I'm wrong,at least I have an excuse in being originally from the South East. Someone who has more of a recollection of what garages had allocated regarding Metrobuses in the early 1980's might be able to answer about this.

Have a WMPTE fleet book from 1983 and Stourbridge had no MK1 Metrobuses, Hart's Hill had a few at that time (2055-9 & 2141-5)
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

What about Oldbury? That was the other garage mentioned...

If I remember correctly Oldbury's first Metrobuses were in the 244x series which were some of the earliest MK2 versions, and they had no MK1s.

In fact I think Stourbridge and Oldbury shared the first 10 MK2s, 2436-2445.

The first Metrobuses allocated to Oldbury were 2646 and 2647 IIRC. As the garage had 30 Ailsas (originally, for screaming.... Literally.... along the 87 route), this was the main allocation so they only had small batches of new Fleetlines until then (6499-6503; 6557/58 - which replaced two ex Midland Red Fleetlines which had collided head on, 6785/6 and 6936-41). They had Metrobuses allocated in twos and I can't remember the other two pairs - 277x and 283x or 284x I think. I don't recall any mk 1s and certainly not from new. 2436-45 were WB originally and 2446-50 Stourbridge - some of these moved to Oldbury from WB and SE later (presumably when SE closed) I don't recall Stourbridge having mk 1 Metrobuses either.

In 1983 2436-45 were allocated to West Brom and 2446-51 to Stourbridge. At that time, Oldbury are not showing any Metrobuses at all.

I thought 2451 was one of Coventry's batch of 18 (2451-2468). What fleet number does your list go to - 2646, 2647, 2777, 2778 and 2841 seem to have been allocated to Oldbury - 2841 was definitely there - it was parked on the garage front having just been delivered when I went to a meeting there - in fact it was remarked on in the meeting that the powers that be had seen fit to give Oldbury a new bus!! The garage closed in 1985 - not long after.
