Didn't one or two of the original 4042-4055 batch have early versions of dot matrix displays when new? Or maybe I'm imagining that.

Yes, 53 or 54 I think. You can still see the cutaway in the black surround to the left of the destination display window where it used to be

Can I hazard a guess it will then be loaned to WN for V Festival duties, before either being withdrawn or used as a trainer?

no 55 & 56 had the dot matrix destination 56 had it all round where as 55 just had front dot matrix

I thought 4054 had just the front LED but wasn't 100% sure @Tony as I didn't fancy any smart comments lol
