Unless that press release was bogus, which stated that Birmingham City Council were purchasing the vehicles, it is still feasible that they could be allocated to WA for use on routes that go into Birmingham, lets say the 51 and X51. Tyseley Energy Park isn't that far from the city centre for vehicles to run 'dead' and back for refuelling.

They are likely to run on the sprint route as mentioned in the last press release which is Walsall to Solihull via the 51/X2 routes

That is true, but that is not due to start until next year though? So these hydrogen buses will presumably have to be utilised 'elsewhere' in the meantime.

Unless a 'forerunner' to the Sprint route is going to be launched 'beforehand'?

My locals:
2 - Birmingham to Maypole | 3 - Birmingham to Yardley Wood
11A/C - Birmingham Outer Circle | 27 - Yardley Wood to Frankley
76 - Solihull to Northfield | 169 - Solihull to Kings Heath

Surely the likely outcome will be they are used on the current X51 for a year until the Sprint route starts. Maybe any extras also on the normal 51 too. That way the current platinums could be redesignsted onto other routes to upgrade them too and see off more Tridents.

Possibly X51/997 I would think, as think it interworks.
The main site says there's currently 18 branded (6723 - 6740), so probably wouldn't be many spares for the normal 51?

Looks like the rumour I heard was true, and 3301-3305 are transferring to Walsall. 3302's page now lists it as 'transferred to Walsall garage 3/21'.

Wonder what they will replace......
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

If the Hydrogens end up going on the 51/X51, the current X51/997 branded buses and the 51 branded buses could be debranded, then 997 and X51 could stop interworking. 997 could be rebranded on the platinums and the 51/X51 could be branded together on the hydrogens. The current 51 branded buses could be debranded and transfered to WN to replace the current 43** and 44**/45** Tridents

Would they brand them for the X51 only to debrand them possibly less than a year later when they move onto the sprint route? I would be surprised. I would have though they'd remain unbranded for a route they are only being used on in the short term, like when the 75XX were new for the YW 6?

The most I could see happening is some single decks being moved elsewhere, as Walsall have been short on deckers for a long time from what I've been told.

Any views/comments are my own and do not reflect those of my employer.

Is it a coincidence that the only Wrightbus double deckers in the fleet, 3301 - 5, are being allocated to a garage that may have the Wrightbus double deckers H1001-20? (B7TLs are Wright bodied Volvos of course.)
