D&G/Midland 297B/X96 observations

Spent some time yesterday at Stourbridge,Merry Hill & Dudley & travelled on the X96 & did not see another operator at any time on this route, but did notice a few extra NXWM at times with at one time 4 at Merry Hill.

I think Midland/D&G only operate on the night on the X96.

I might be asking a stupid question here but aren't Midland & D&G the same company ?

No, aren't they, until September, sister companies both owned by Liyell LTD? That's why Tony has 2 separate fleet lists for the 2 companies.

They are two different companies that were in the same ownership. I am not sure if ownership Liyell Limited (Midland) has actually passed to Arriva yet or whether the assetts are being bought on the 23rd September when Liyell limited will cease to be a bus operator.

Well it looks like NXWM have picked up the new Tender for the ex Midland X96 journeys:

D10.The 297 trips for Sundays only  were tendered last week by Centro.The route will now operate as 287 and run Stourbridge-Merry Hill only. I believe that Diamond won the tender.

Was at Gornal Wood bus station today, and the timetable cases still have details of the 297B even though it no longer runs!!!
