It would maybe only affect the UK if similar tariffs are imposed here. The news report is about EU countries, which sadly we are no longer.

It shouldn't do, last time I checked, the UK was no longer part of the EU.

Different types of vehicles fall into different classes of tariffs, so they may choose to have different tariff rates for buses, coaches and trucks.

But there is also a developing electric heavy-goods vehicle market in the EU, so it would be likely that attempts would be made to protect this also.

I did read something a while back where the UK government was being pressured to do the same. While the UK doesn't have much of a car manufacturing industry any more, manufacturers in the EU (Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, VW, Mercedes, BMW etc) would much rather we bought their electric cars, rather than the cheaper Chinese ones.

Perhaps this is one reason why Alexander Dennis decided to develop their own integral bus, rather than building on BYD chassis.
