Can anyone please bring me up to speed on the following:-

Following last year's new Buses Bill, will the metropolitan county of the West Midlands be introducing Franchising of some, or all of the bus services in their area ?

Did I read somewhere that they have already got a franchise planned in the south-west of the region, or is that just a large package of subsidised services within the pre-existing system and legislation ??

THANKS.

I think it is fair to say that no, there are no current plans for franchising, the current method of partnership working is to be continued. There are still area reviews being planned in co-operation with bus operators covering existing commercial services and no doubt tendered services will be included too.
