The 998 became an all day service in 1989 as part of the Pheasey revisions every 20 mins (10 mins peaks).
The 155 and 157 became 995 and 997 respectively and the 996 introduced in 1990 operating "Limited Stop" via 998 route from City to Kingstanding, this network worked fairly well until January 1995 when they messed it up completely. They reduced the 995 to run hourly all day and both 996 and 997 were both increased to every 30 mins all day (996 didn't need this at all, 997 was re-routed  via Pheasey to combine every 15 mins with 998)

I think they all ran well out of PB the 30 min 996 daytime frequency in 1995 was shortlived with the 913 Introduced in 1996replacing 118 city section and providing a daytime service for Chester road.

In my opinion the mess of the network began when WA took them over.

In February 2002 997 reduced to Hourly re-routed Hundre acre road and Foley arms instead of Pheasey. Re-routed again in November 2003 via Pheasey and Aldridge road not serving Kingstanding. Became Premiere 997 in January 2005.

I think Scania double decks 3201-3247 may have been originally intended for Perry Barr for these services, but were sent to Birmingham Central instead to upgrade the 50 (as Your Bus had mainly new buses on its competing 50Y at the time).

Can anyone confirm?
