several parts of this line are actually still in situ... if you turn right outside wednesbury Gt western st and approach the primary depot entrance.....  the old crossing can clearly be seen when viewed from a gaping hole in the adjacent fencing. much of the original bull head rail/crossovers are still in place.. this access point also provides a view of the tram yard but is of course not public property.....
Mind the Gap.....?:-)

There seems to be plenty of track and trackbed between Walsall centre and the start of the disused line at Pleck junction so in theory a tram line could start from there, but you'd have to cross the tracks at Pleck which wouldn't be easy.

West Midlands ITA (soon to become part of the Combined Authority) published their "Movement for Growth" strategic plan in December.  The plans for this corridor are as follows :-

A Metro line from Brierley Hill to Wednesbury to be completed in time for the launch of HS2 (currently 2026).  It would connect with Metro line 1 at Wednesbury with though journeys from Brierley Hill to both Birmingham and Wolverhampton proposed.  This would leave the rail alignment at Cinder Bank to go through Dudley Bus Station and rejoin the rail alignment at Tipton Road.

A line (either heavy rail or tram-train) to run from Stourbridge Junction to Brownhills (on the Lichfield line) and Aldridge (on the Sutton Park line) to be built after 2026.  This line would run alongside the Metro between Harts Hill (near Brierley Hill) and Wednesbury but would keep to the current rail alignment throughout and thus would go through Dudley Tunnel.

Talking of Dudley, what has happened on that light tram project from the old Dudley station site?

A Planning Application to build the Innovation Centre was submitted to Dudley Council in October.  No decision has been made yet.
