With the arrival of 4995 soon, we are fast reaching the end of the 4*** sequence of fleetnumbers.
Where do we think they will go next? NX could have another 400 new double deckers before having to 'jump' over the hybrids. Could they go back to 3000 giving a full block of a 1000? Maybe in a few years time we could have 3225 Enviro 400MMC in Birmingham livery, just like the previous two?

They could just continue from 4995 & run up to 5400 or they could jump to 6000's?

3000 upwards would be my guess.

No history of conventional DDs in the 5xxx except second hand or rebuilds, and other 5xxx have been ex-Your Bus (for example) or saloons.  6000s start with the bendis so that would mean an arbitrary start point at 6050 or 6100, say.
Don't you start.

BUT WAT BOUT BENDIES ????

Ooops! Forget about them & they're only 18M long! Winston

Seriously though they'll probably go to 5400 then 3000's as then they'll be a gap from them darts using 3xxx series, rather then after immediate scrapping of the previous fleet number.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

What they should do is renumber the dundee stuff into the NXWM series (eg Geminis as 4782-4798 inclusive, ex dundee Scanias as 1718-1742 or 1954-1999 section, Dundee Volvos as 13xx/wright eclipse being 1908 mk4), with the B10 trainers moved to become 93xx,95xx and the misc mercs to 96xx, the short enviros imo should have had 430 onwards numbers (then overwrite the Volvo b6s), with the hybrid enviros as 7001 etc and the hybrid Volvos as 7501 etc (with singles as 800 and 900, the long enviros to move to 1001-1299 inclusive)

All opinions and onions mentioned on here are mine and not those of any employer, current, past, present or future, or presented as fact, unless I prove it otherwise.

I wonder if the 500th/1000th bus will have a special graphic on the side - like 4370??? Did??

So as it had been discussed before...

My logic to be fair was going to be the E400 MMC running from 5001 up, there's a few hundred to get through there before you hit the hybrids, and that should have covered up to the end of this however-many-year agreement with ADL, maybe then if/when NX finally order from a different manufacturer they could use the 61xx series. But never mind...

Either way, E200's? Surely using NX logic they'll be different enough from the current single deck fleet to warrant a completely different number series, so surely 30xx is the more likely option
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

I wondered too about the high spec platinum vehicles, 6149 onwards or maybe 5001 onwards? I think for the E200MMC buses either 1000 onwards or 2200 onwards

Is 7000 upwards reserved for anything ?!

Dundee buses used to be given fleetnumbers 7xxx. This appears to have ended now, with B7s with WM examples in the 2xxx range and E200s in the 7xx range.

GeminiFan1991

I personally think they should be numbered in 65**

I think it should be what Stagecoach do or something similar.

0-2000: Mini and midibus
2000-3999: Single Decker
4000-5999: Double Decker
6000-6999: Hybrid (<6499 single, 6500> double)
7000-7999: Coaches (if any?)
8000-8999: Trainers and Ancillary.
9000-9999: Platinum (if necessary)
